This book was made back in the days when you wanted to teach kids that wrong doings had consequences. So it is a little dark for kids today. Yet it still teaches you that every action has a reaction. For a German learner is good, since the writing is not complex.
these terrible children! they are so mean! they deserved to get baked into bread! it rhymes, which is nice for figuring out pronunciation on some of the words i don't recognize. i don't know much german, but the illustrations tell a compelling story.
Used to read this book as a child, so happy I found it again
I haven't read this book since childhood (55 years ago!) and enjoyed it as much now as I did then!
Even I can almost still recite this book from my memories, it was great to find it in electronic version, so I can read it to my son, who is now also learning german.It brought great childhood memories to life and I couldn't wait to download it/transfer it to my kindle.Also, to rememeber the great writer Wilhelm Busch was and what important writing this is.Kann ich nur empfehlen zu lesen.
The problem with this edition is that dictionaries do not work on Kindle. This is because the all the words in a line are linked so that the dictionary function thinks you are trying to look up several words at a time. A free PDF copy of the book can be obtained from Gutenberg.org.

A German classic for reading to children. It brings home the dangers of being a wayward child. Even now in this century I have been able to pursuade my daughter to read these to her son.
