I gave this book to my three sons (7, 6, 5 years) as a gift to take with us on a recent to trip to Disney World. They used it to pass time as we traveled as well as in the hotel during downtime in the evenings. It was great for all of them. The youngest did more tracing than learning to follow steps, and my older son was really enjoying the step-by-step parts of the guide. A Disney fan will enjoy the old art and seeing how the characters have evolved through time. Highly recommended.
This book is really good for folks interested in Disney character animation. Several different versions of the same characters, though I wish there were more characters, like some of the more modern creations, Launchpad McQuack, and the like, or a bit of guidance for props, but even discounting that, it's still an excellent book. It was a bit larger that I thought it would be, but that's only a good thing. My only complaint is with the binding of the book. It IS a hard cover, but it's a weird kinda puffy hardcover that has always struck me as odd.
My friends and I like going to the Animation Academy at Disneyland, so I bought this for them so we could recreate the experience at home. This covers classic characters and provides wonderful history.
Great book! Saved a few bucks buying it here, rather than at Disney World. As an artist and animator that has been drawing these classic characters since I was a child, it's nice to have all of the different model sheets throughout different styles and generations of Mickey!
The best book, of this type, that I have seen. Good value. Would be great to see a Donald Duck Retrospective ala Mickey's 90th book by the same author.
